  • Bugatti – And We Ain’t Talking Cars

When you Google Bugatti, the first thing to come up is the sports car designs, details on their high performance and just how much they cost! Thankfully I am not in the market for a new sports car – I am more in need of a family car that fits a car seat and can hold a pram in the boot! But on this occasion I am looking at Bugatti footwear, as a few boxes have landed on the shop doorstep and I have to say I am impressed. Now we did stock a few dress styles previously but haven’t had them for a few seasons, so it is nice to have them back. Continue reading

  • Mustang boots are a must for your spring wardrobe!

Mustang boots are a must for your spring wardrobe!

While spring has sprung, there is still a chill in the air. However, I'm finding my winter boots a little too heavy for this time of year.

  • Colour Pop!

    Colour Pop!

Spring is coming! It may still be a little cold & dull outside, but spring is on its way. The snowdrops & daffodils are in bloom, so its time to put a bit of spring colour into your wardrobe. Whether you're after heels or flats, there are plenty of styles to choose from. Colour & flowery prints are huge trends this season, but you don't have to go for head to toe colour just yet. I ten to wear a lot of neutral tones this time of year, but like to inject a little colour into my outfits. So a good way to stay on trend & liven up an outfit is to add colour & prints with some fab accessories.

Now flower prints were a major trend, seen on the spring catwalks, & a great way to tap into that trend is flower print shoes. If you're after a heel to lift a simple dress, print is the way to go.

    s.oliver billie

Take the beautiful "Billie" from our S.Oliver range. This gorgeous high heel pump will go with everything, with its colourful flower print. Add a pop of colour & style to a simple little dress, or just throw them on with jeans. With its vibrant flower print, & pointed toe, "Billie" will keep you right on trend. If you want that punchy flower print with a slightly lower heel, then "Casey" will be your go to shoe, this spring. With its comfortable stack heel, this is a great everyday shoe.

Now, for those of you who like a flat pump, you can really make your outfit pop with a colourful pump.

If you like a print, go for the fun tropical printed "Rose" from Refresh. It comes in a choice of 3 coloured backgrounds. Black print, white print, & turquoise print.

This is such a soft, comfortable little pump, you won't want to take it off.

Now, if you don't want flowers, you can still add a pop of colour with this chic little pump.

    Esc lamen

"Lamen" from our Escape range is a classic pump, with a twist. It features classic silver piping, & bow detail, while staying bang on trend with its bright colour, & subtle stripe pattern.

So ladies, whether it's a special occasion, or a gloomy Tuesday, add a pop of colour to your spring look.

  • Hot off the Catwalk!

    Hot off the Catwalk!

The spring/summer fashion shows were packed to the brim, with fresh new looks. There are plenty of trends to choose from, to perk up your spring wardrobe.

Fashion is constantly evolving, but always takes inspiration from past decades. This season many fashion houses have been taking their inspiration from the 70's. We've seen lots of mustard yellow, browns, & creams on the runways. While we've seen Pucci bringing back flares, for that hippie chic look.

Denim has been seen on most of the catwalks, with flared jeans & denim skirts making a comeback. But don't worry, you don't need to go full on 70's with your look! If you want to update your look, just pick a simple short denim skirt or a pair of slightly flared jeans, & pair them with a simple t-shirt & a classic brogue shoe. Mustang "Polly" would look great with any 70's inspired look, with its block high heel, platform sole, & retro styling. I know I'll be wearing this with everything!

Another trend still going strong is black & white. This was a key theme of the Balenciaga show this season. You can't really go wrong with the monochrome look, but coming into the summer months you may not want to wear so much black. If you want to tap into this trend why not go for monochrome accents. Just add a chic little black & white clutch, or a pair of black & white loafers. "Coral Reef" from Clarks will keep you right on trend with its pointed toe & black & white detailing. This little loafer is so versatile, you can dress it up or keep it casual. Perfect for work & play.

Full printed skirts have made a major comeback in recent years, & are still big for 2015. Michael Kors kept things classic with bright floral print. What better way to keep your spring look fresh, than a pretty floral skirt. To dress up your printed full skirt, team it with a pointed high heel pump. The point is big this season and looks great against the soft nature of a full skirt.

If you want a splash of colour, with a bit of edge, then "Dalhart Sorbet" from Clarks is the shoe for you this spring. It comes in a beautiful deep coral suede, with contrasting black stiletto heel, to give your look a little edginess. With a sharp pointed toe, this pump will look great teamed with a full floral skirt.

For a slightly softer point, why not try "Billie" from S.Oliver. This high heel pump comes in a soft shimmering cream & gold print, so it will go with everything.

    Jpeg Jpeg

Now these are just a few of the trends hitting the high street this spring. There are plenty more still to come for spring 2015. So whether you are a hippie chick or a floral beauty, have fun freshening up your wardrobe with some runway style this spring!

  • Straight to the point.

There were lots of different trends coming through on the catwalks for spring 2015. Lots to have fun with when updating my wardrobe! One of my top picks for the coming season is pointed toes. The pointed heel will carry you through from winter 2014 into spring 2015 with ease. A pointed toe can really change the look of an outfit. It can smarten up a casual outfit, or give a floaty little dress a bit of an edge.

This spring season I'm loving the pointed flat. It’s got style & comfort in one neat little package! A pointed flat can dress up an outfit if your feet are needing a rest from heels. You can easily style a work outfit with a pointed loafer, & stay right on trend. When the weather gets a little bit milder, I know I'll be changing from boots into my pointed pumps.

    Pointed shoes

My two favourites here at McConnells are "Coral Reef" from Clarks, & "Angel" from Tamaris.

"Coral Reef" comes in two great finishes. A lovely neutral oyster leopard print suede upper with patent accents. This one will go with any outfit, whether it’s for work or play. Team them with your skinnies, button down shirt, & a chunky knit for a casual, yet chic look. Also coming in black leather with contrasting white trim, they give a nod to colour blocking, another key look for spring 2015. The black & white will look great teamed with a pair of cropped straight leg slacks. You'll find this one a good addition to your work wardrobe this year.

Now, "Angel" from our Tamaris range is a beautiful little pointed ballerina pump, with strapping detail to keep it very up to the minute. It comes in a muted blush gold, which will go with everything. A-line midi skirts are big again for spring 2015, & these pumps will go great with them. They will look fab with my floral midi, for a fresh springtime look. This style of shoe is so versatile, it will look great with skinnies, skirts, slacks, & even shorts, for when the weather really heats up.

Now for those of you, who just don't like flats, have a look at "Aquifer Belle" from Clarks. This chic little number has a kitten heel, keeping it dressy yet still comfortable to wear all day. With snake print leather upper, & sling back detail, it will dress up any outfit. This is one of those shoes that will take you from day to night with ease.
